afternoon, but now we are mixing it up with the
fun of our Saturday night dance parties for an
evening of sneak peek hot products.
For those of you totally brand new to WPPI,
here’s a quick overview of our week and the
things you may or may not know:
Thursday-Friday – These are the days we offer
our PLUS classes, and starting last year we
increased the number of offerings to ten (five
per day) and significantly reduced the price.
($199.99 members/$249.99 non-members)
Saturday-Sunday – Two days of live judging of
The Annual 16x20 Print, Album and Filmmaking
Competition begins—eight rooms of judging
that you may sit in, watch and hear every
print get judged. It’s an awesome learning
experience and one that I guarantee you’ll love.
Sunday – Platform and Master Classes start,
along with our opening night party
at Hakkasan, the hottest club in Vegas.
Monday-Wednesday - Platforms, Master
Classes, Photo Walks and more PLUS
classes. This year we’ve added 15 brand
new PLUS classes from Monday-Wednesday,
plus the world’s biggest, most bad-ass trade
Wednesday Night – The Annual 16x20 Print,
Album and Filmmaking competition awards!
An evening of dressing up, an elegant
cocktail hour, and a night celebrating the
world’s greatest photographers!
Thursday – Photo Ignite. We close the show with
a morning of short, inspiring talks with a fun twist
and prizes. Go home with your sides hurting
from laughter, and maybe some great SWAG!
Finally, here are three classes from industry
greats WPPI hasn’t seen in a few years but
whom we welcome back with open arms:
“This Little Light of Mine,” Dave and Quin
Cheung’s Master Class on their “guerilla”
approach to off-camera lighting at weddings.
They haven’t spoken at WPPI for a couple of
years, and they’ve been missed!
“Look Into Your Camera’s Mirror and Say…
Goodbye” by Mike Colon is the one Platform
Class you don’t want to miss. Mirrorless cameras
are taking the wedding photography world
by storm, and Colon will show you how it’s
changed his entire approach.
“The Down and Dirty Guide to the 20-Hour
Work Week” by Jeff and Julia Woods is sure to
please. These stellar educators have been on
hiatus for the last few years with a busy studio
move across the country and raising a big
family, but I was able to twist their arms and
get them to return to WPPI!
