The pilgrimage begins once again! Whether you’re
getting this issue right before you head out to catch your
flight or opening it as you arrive in Las Vegas, you will
definitely want to read through this year’s Survival Guide before
stepping into the grand conference center at the MGM. (And if
you aren’t attending WPPI this year, this will hopefully give you the
incentive to add the show to your 2017 To Do list!)
First and foremost, PLAN YOUR WEEK! This means setting your
times up in your calendar on your phone with alerts, as well as
making a hard copy because your phone will die at some point.
If you don’t make a schedule in advance, I promise you will get
STICKING TO YOUR PLAN
derailed in the first hour upon arrival, and you don’t want to be
packing your bag saying, “Where did that week go? I forgot
to do so much!” You’ve been warned!
This goes for everyone, myself included. If you haven’t created one yet,
or you have a “loose plan,” my suggestion is to go get a cup of coffee
right now, sit down and write out your agenda. Contained within this
magazine is the entire Showguide (after pg. 92). Plan your day, allowing
extra time to rest, eat and get to where you need to go, of course. It’s
Vegas, kids: there’s a line for everything and nothing is close by.
And don’t bow to peer pressure! A good plan is only the start;
you’ve got to see it through. I can’t tell you how many times I was
heading somewhere and ran into a few friends who said, “We’re
getting coffee, join us!” Remember, you’re here to learn, discover and
yes, network, but there’s lots of time for that when classes are
not running, and the trade show is open. (continued on pg. 38)

to slow it down for a moment during WPPI last year.
